Mission

KBC asked for a mobile website to build a medium where press and investor relations could be kept informed in an easy way. Financial information is usually hot news and by providing it through mobile, KBC offers a service to those interested.

The main idea was to use a part of the content of their existing investor website (http://www.kbc.com) and provide it in a mobile format. Mandatory was the reuse of their Content Management System (CMS) - so authors didn’t have to input information twice - and security.

Besides for investors and press, the website should be usable for KBC internal people. This also implied that the website had to look good and be usable on BlackBerry handsets.

Build

Apart from the technological part, Nascom started the exercise with a strategic and UX reflection. This resulted in a graphical proposal. Once approved, we built the website on top of the existing KBC CMS.

We made sure the website looks good on Blackberry and iPhone in the first place, and any modern phone on top to that. We managed to program this with minimal exceptions.

Technology

  • XML / XSLT
  • HTML
  • CSS (optimized for mobile)
  • Javascript

Results / Services

The customer is very happy with the result. KBC understands this is still a niche marked, but they wanted to get their feet wet and learn from the process. On the other hand, although still niche, the added value to some customers is pretty big.
