VRT wanted an online extension of their 'Radio 2' station. They needed a complete and easy to use content management system. The new website had to be migrated seamlessly into VRT's generic Drupal environment.
We used Drupal technology generically and created a user interface that will be used throughout the entire VRT organisation. Other radio stations like MNM, Radio 1 and Klara will be using it as well. The team of editors can now work with 1 recognizable system. This will increase productivity and save a lot of time.
We worked together closely with all VRT services, to make sure all their needs and desires were incorporated into the new site.
Let's hear it for UX
As in all cases, user experience was key. So we started by carefully mapping out all the functionalities a user would need. We kept a close eye on the target audience at hand (aged 30 plus) and looked for ways to make the site easily manageable by all age groups.
We used accessible visuals and even though we are offering a whole range of functionalities, we managed to keep the site very simple. The look & feel is based on the existing Radio2 style guide to ensure seamless integration with VRT's current system.
User-friendly interface
We wanted to give the team of editors an interface they would enjoy working with. For this we obey the 'cockpit principle'. When creating an article, you can easily determine its location and specific features from one single spot.
We integrated several VRT services such as the VRT program scheme, now on air service, nedstat statistics, streaming into the new website.
The site now nicely integrates VRT data, and has all the desired functionalities (e.g. media management, article and program management, user-friendly block structures, etc.) in the backend.
