There’s no denying it. All of us here at Nascom have a sweet tooth. We pay 20 cts for our daily sugar kick in the form of waffles or other chocolate treats. Which quickly adds up to quite a sum. We decided to donate this candy-money to a good cause, instead of spending it on ourselves.

We donated our piggy bank to two charitable projects:

Plan België:

We help support children in less fortunate parts of Cambodia, Togo, El Salvador and Burkina Faso by financing their ‘right to exist’. The money we donated will be used for basic health issues, school funds, school desks, mosquito nets, and to help start up a children’s radio station.

Mobile school:

The rest of our money went to ‘Mobile School vzw’. A few years ago, a guy from Limburg came up with the excellent idea to create a mobile school. This ‘school on wheels’ brings education closer to kids living on the streets of South-America. From street corners, these schools reach kids who would not get the chance to get an education under normal circumstances. This initiative offers them the chance to a better future.
